Dennis singing at Tumble Hill Campground

July 4th Performance at Tumble Hill Campground

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of performing at Tumble Hill Campground in Cohocton, NY, for their Julyfireworks at Tumble Hill Campground 4th celebration. This charming and rustic retreat provided the perfect backdrop for an evening filled with music, festivities, and fireworks.

The Venue: Tumble Hill Campground

Tumble Hill Campground, located in the beautiful region of Cohocton, NY, offers a serene environment that is ideal for campers looking to immerse themselves in nature. Nestled amidst picturesque views and rolling hills, the campground provides various amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. These include campsites for both tents and RVs, clean restrooms, shower facilities, and electric hookups for RVs. Additionally, the campground is a family-friendly venue that welcomes both children and pets, making it a perfect spot for a family getaway.

Setting Up for the Performance

I arrived at Tumble Hill Campground early in the afternoon to set up for the evening performance. Lisa Stetson, the owner, greeted me warmly and showed me around. She was super nice and allowed my wife and me to stay overnight in a cozy cottage just down the hill from the main area. This was a lovely gesture, especially since Dennis singing at Tumble Hill Campgroundour anniversary was the next day. The cottage was quiet and comfortable, providing a perfect retreat after the festivities.

The Performance Area

I set up on the porch of a mobile home that overlooks the office, firepit area, and general store, as well as the beautiful rolling hills surrounding the campground. The porch provided an excellent vantage point to engage with the audience while offering a picturesque backdrop for my performance. The setup included my Les Paul guitar, pedals, and a wireless system, allowing me to move around freely and interact with the crowd.

The Setlist and Performance

Given the occasion, my setlist featured America-themed songs, including “American Girl” by Tom Petty, “American Pie,” “America the Beautiful,” and “God Bless America.” It was super fun bringing the Les Paul instead of the usual acoustic guitar I might bring for such an occasion. The electric setup allowed me to bring a different energy to the performance, particularly during the solo sections of more rockin’ songs like “Black Magic Woman” and “Back in Black.”  Here is a montage of the performance.

Audience Interaction and Atmosphere

One of the highlights of the evening was the ability to walk down to where everyone was sitting while playing, thanks to the wireless setup. This allowed me to jam out and engage with the audience more personally,Dennis jamming out at Tumble Hill Campground creating a lively and interactive atmosphere. The crowd’s enthusiasm was infectious, and it was clear that everyone was enjoying the music and the festive spirit of the holiday.

Fireworks and Finale

The night culminated in a spectacular fireworks display, which I took video of and integrated into a montage of some of the songs I played. Watching the fireworks light up the sky while the crowd cheered and sang along to the music was a truly magical experience. The combination of live music and fireworks created an unforgettable celebration that perfectly captured the essence of July 4th.

A Memorable Anniversary

After the performance, my wife and I retreated to our cottage, grateful for the lovely stay and the warm hospitality we received. The next morning, I woke up early and meditated, reflecting on the wonderful experience of the previous night. Celebrating our anniversary at Tumble Hill Campground, surrounded by nature and good vibes, made the weekend even more special.
