As the founding member of The Way Band, I try to embrace every event with a warmth and familiarity that turns gatherings into heartwarming family celebrations. My goal for every event is to create a nurturing atmosphere that fosters a sense of unity among event attendees, making them feel like part of a close-knit musical family.

Getting the Big Picture

To do this, I try to learn as much as I can about the party and the guests, by asking questions like:

• What is the occasion?
• What is the desired function of the music during the event (i.e., dancing, background, or entertainment)?
• Are there multiple parts of the event that the music should adjust for?
• What style of music?
• What do the hosts and guests like? (I either ask the host this, or surmise it based on experience, or at some events we put out our repertoire list and let people choose what they want to hear.)

From the moment The Way Band starts to play, our genuine love for music and our audience is hopefully palpable. We try to go beyond technical excellence and create an emotional connection that wraps guests in a warm musical embrace. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, or private party, we try to make everyone feel like they are part of a loving, musical family.

Including the Whole Family

Recently I took a video of the entire event, edited it into a 3- or 4-minute montage as is my habit, and the grandmother who hosted the party called me to see if she could get all the videos in their entirety!
