As someone still relatively new to the Myrtle Beach area, I appreciate every opportunity to perform in a place that helps me understand another part of the community.

The 80th birthday celebration was ultimately about something much larger than music. It was about honoring a person who had accumulated eight decades of relationships, experiences, and memories. The guests were not there simply to be entertained. They were there because the guest of honor mattered to them.
That is always worth remembering as a performer.
The most appropriate music for a private event is not necessarily the most complicated or impressive music. It is the music that helps guests feel comfortable, connected, welcomed, and emotionally present.
Sometimes that means playing gently behind conversation. Sometimes it means performing a familiar song. Sometimes it means noticing that the mood in the room is changing and adjusting along with it.
The Ocean Club made that work enjoyable because the venue had such a clear character. The setting suggested elegance, warmth, and relaxation. My role was to support those qualities through music.
